Dom loved decorating for Christmas. About mid-November every year, he would start to get really worked up for decorating, even though Billy told him that he wasn't allowed to even think about buying anything Christmas related before December 1st.
That didn't mean that he didn't talk about decorating all the time, and he really got into it around Thanksgiving. But December 1st was the beginning every year, and Billy usually remembered that and made a mental note to steer clear of Dom and his Christmas decorations that day.
Billy had completely forgotten that it was December 1st until he walked in the door that night. This was a Big Mistake on his part, as he found out.
"Dom, did you buy out the store?"
Dom's head appeared from the other side of the couch, where he was trying to untangle a string of colored lights.
"Do you think it's enough, Bill? I got tinsel, lights, ornaments, and pretty much anything shiny that I could find." Dom said excitedly, getting up and running over to Billy, the lights still in his hands.
"If anything, it's too much," said Billy, kissing Dom once as he removed his shoes and took off his coat. "Want some help?"
"Of course!"
Dom led Billy over to the couch, which was piled high with Christmas decorations in various states of being shiny and covered in glitter -- in most cases, both. There were more lights there than Billy had ever seen in his life or in anyone else's house, for that matter.
While Billy contemplated which decoration he was going to put up, Dom began draping the newly untangled Christmas lights over him, giggling all the while.
"Dom, why are you covering me in Christmas lights?" inquired Billy, laughing himself as he untangled the lights from around his head and arms.
"Because, Billy! It's time to don your gay apparel!" Billy groaned at Dom's joke and picked up some ornaments to put on their tree after giving the string of lights back to Dom.
"Oh, Christmas music!" Dom exclaimed, picking up the stereo remote and pressing the play button. "Jingle Bell Rock" began to fill the living room, and Dom sang along as he tried his best to put the lights on the tree.
Billy laughed. "You're not very good at doing lights, are you?"
"I'm just great at it, thank you very much!" protested Dom, even though it was all too obvious that he was struggling. Billy couldn't help himself; he had to laugh again at the fact that Dom was clearly losing his battle with the colored lights.
"No, you're really not," Billy took the string of lights away from Dom and continued hanging them on the tree, fixing Dom's mistakes as he went. When he finished, he turned to look at Dom. "See? Much better."
Dom nodded. "Why yes, Billy, so much better. You are clearly the superior one at decorating." He made a small bow in Billy's direction and then started to walk back towards the couch again.
Not able to resist, Billy reached out to smack Dom's arse as he walked away, which caused Dom to make a small yelping noise and turn around quickly to face Billy.
"What was that for?"
"Well, I don't exactly have a drum to go parum-bum-bum-bum on, do I?" said Billy, smiling and laughing at his own joke.
Dom laughed as well. "See, now, that was funny! Way to get in the Christmas spirit!" Dom walked back over to Billy to press another kiss to his lips, and then made his way back to the couch. When Billy tried to join him, Dom shooed him away. "No, now just wait a second." He turned back towards the couch and continued to mess about with whatever his apparently secret project was at the moment.
Billy couldn't see what Dom was doing, but he was pretty sure that it was going to be something else Christmas related. What with all the decorations sitting on the couch, Dom was bound to think of something daft for them to put up in the house somewhere. Either that, or he was making another decoration of some kind to hang on Billy, much like the Christmas lights.
"Ta-da!" Dom announced as he turned around to face Billy.
Billy scanned Dom's appearance and didn't see anything different about him. That is, until...
Billy burst out laughing as his eyes reached the top of Dom's jeans. "Only you, Dom. Only you."
"I know, only me, right?" said Dom proudly. He had tied the mistletoe that he had planned to hang in the doorway to their bedroom on his belt buckle instead. "So how about it, Billy? Up for some rocking around the Christmas tree?"
Billy laughed again and pulled Dom to him for a quick kiss. "Yeah, maybe after you get all these decorations put up."
"Aw, but Billy -- "
"Get all this put up, I'll even help, and then maybe later I'll see what I can do about decking *your* halls." Billy grinned as Dom flew into action. "And maybe I'll even let that mistletoe serve its real purpose later."
At that, Dom kissed Billy again and started to hang tinsel on the railing, trying to move as fast as he could and still make it look good. Billy sat back on the couch for a minute, then joined Dom in putting the rest of the ornaments on the tree, along with the star on top.
"Now can we go talk about the mistletoe thing, Bill?" said Dom excitedly as they admired their lit and decorated Christmas tree several minutes later.
"Yeah, I think that we could. But you're going to have to prove to me that you know what the tradition is." Billy teased.
"Oh trust me, I know what it is."
*
"So, are you still not in the Christmas spirit?" asked Dom playfully as he pulled the blanket up over the two of them.
"I think you know better than that," answered Billy, grinning. "Love you, Dom."
"Love you too, Billy."
As he and Dom curled up together, Billy decided that he wasn't really going to mind when December 1st came around anymore.
